In a fictional form we depict the dramatic end of the life of the genius composer Bedřich Smetana.
Four seasons. Four folklore customs. Four characters - wife, daughter, son-in-law and grandson.
Sensitively, we capture the last chapter of the fierce fate of the Czech musical genius Bedřich Smetana. A chapter marked by a serious mental illness that
led to the disintegration of his personality and the family that cared for him. Smetana lived this epilogue in the friendly surroundings of the Jabkenice hunting
lodge with his daughter Žofie and son-in-law Josef Schwarz.
Against traditional 19th-century customs, we explore the generally valid current dilemmas of caring for ageing and ill parents.
The novel was published on the 200th anniversary of Smetana's birth and was presented
and christened at the Smetana Litomyšl 2024 festival.
